Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who has been grabbing the breasts of women in East Elmhurst and shoving them to the ground.

The man is described as about 5 feet 5 inches tall, between 25 and 30 years old with black hair. He wore sunglasses during the attacks and speaks Spanish.

The first assault occurred at 3:10 p.m. on July 21 when the suspect grabbed an 18-year-old woman’s breast, pushed her to the ground and fled on 88th Street. The second attack occurred the following morning on 32nd Avenue, when the man came up behind a 21-year-old woman, touched her breast and ran.

The latest search caps a summer filled with similar incidents.

On July 24, a woman walking in Astoria was grabbed in the buttocks by a man she said “smirked” at her. She chased him down with the help of a Good Samaritan, who held him until police arrived. Astoria resident Dennis Bryan, 21, was arrested in connection with that attack and charged with forcible touching and harassment.

On July 25, police arrested Miguel Hermenegildo, 33, of Woodside, who was charged with public lewdness, forcible touching and harassment, after assaulting women in Astoria while riding his bicycle.

On Tuesday, Jose Alfredo Perez Hernandez, 18, who lived in East Elmhurst, was arrested in connection with a string of sexually-tinged attacks that occurred primarily on the Upper East Side since January. He was charged in connection with three of them.

Anyone with information regarding the man in the East Elmhurst assaults is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS (or text CRIMES and enter TIP577) or to submit a tip at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com
