Cops: Woman killed in Ronkonkoma motorcycle crash
A College Point woman died Sunday after losing control of her motorcycle in Ronkonkoma and striking a tree, Suffolk police said.
Nathalie Plesa, 40, was driving her 1987 Harley-Davidson northbound on Johnson Avenue, police said, when she lost control near Schaefer Drive and hit the tree at 4:10 p.m.
Plesa was on a portion of Johnson Avenue that leads to MacArthur Airport and is open to the public.
"There's a possibility that she was lost because she's not from the area and she's not familiar with the roads," said Det. Sgt. Brian McMenemy. Plesa, who lived on 18th Avenue in College Point, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead, police said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and police ask anybody with information on the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
