New Yorkers looking to travel the city by pedicabs may soon be safer from scams.

The City Council unanimously passed a bill Tuesday that mandates pedicab drivers charge customers the same way yellow cabs do: by distance traveled.

The city's Department of Consumer Affairs will provide pedicab drivers with meter machines and information cards that show riders they are city certified.
