A federal appeals court has affirmed the terrorism conviction of Kareem Ibrahim, a Trinidadian who was one of four men found guilty by a Brooklyn federal court jury of plotting in 2007 to blow up pipelines at Kennedy Airport.

Ibrahim, 68, was accused of helping the plotters by offering to approach Iranian contacts for financing and suggesting the use of codes to communicate. He had claimed he only pretended to go along out of fear, and attacked the sufficiency of the evidence on appeal.

In addition to affirming the conviction, the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also approved Ibrahim's sentence of life in prison. In a previous ruling, the appeals court affirmed the convictions of the other three plotters.
