A four-car pileup on Thursday afternoon involving a school bus, MTA bus and two other cars left at least 16 people injured, officials said.

The unidentified school bus driver allegedly slammed into the cars at the corner of 108th Street and the Horace Harding Expressway in Forest Hills at around 2:30 p.m., NYPD and MTA officials said, sending one of the cars into a the MTA bus.

No children were on the school bus at the time, according to NYPD and education spokeswomen.

At least 16 people, most of whom were riding the MTA bus, were injured, four of them seriously, according to the FDNY. Fourteen of them were rushed to area hospitals in stable condition, and at least four had been released by Thursday night. Two others were treated at the scene.

An MTA spokesman was unsure exactly how many of the injured were passengers, but said the driver was among those hurt.

Cops took the school bus driver into custody after the crash, but did not say what charges, if any, he faced.
