Bedbugs have attacked a popular Times Square movie theater.

The AMC Empire 25 was sprayed for the pests Tuesday night and reopened Wednesday.

Bedbugs had been found in two seats during an Aug. 3 inspection, and a guest reported being bitten this past weekend. Pest control experts were called, and the seats were removed and new ones installed.

Late last month, a guest at the AMC Magic Johnson Harlem 9 theater also reported a bedbug bite.

Justin Scott, a spokesman for AMC Theatres, said the chain takes every report seriously and acts to ensure the health and safety of guests and employees. He said every AMC theater in Manhattan has been inspected.

In recent months, bedbugs also have been found in several Manhattan stores, including Victoria's Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Hollister. - AP
