A 20-year-old man considered a person of interest in the shooting last month of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was taken into custody Monday near Buffalo, the NYPD and the Buffalo police said.

The Bronx resident, who was not immediately identified, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service in upstate Amherst, according to the authorities. The Marshals Service did not immediately respond Monday to a request by Newsday for comment.

The NYPD had previously released images of an alleged suspect wanted in connection with the Nov. 16 shooting, but it was unclear on Monday if that is the person of interest. No criminal charges linked to the shooting of Boyd had been filed by Monday afternoon.

Boyd, 29, was shot once in the abdomen about 2 a.m. outside Sei Less, an Asian fusion restaurant near the intersection of West 38th Street and Seventh Avenue.

He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue after the shooting in critical condition but was released and well enough to make a surprise appearance last week at the Jets training facility in Florham Park, New Jersey.

Boyd, primarily a special teams player, signed with the Jets in the offseason but has not appeared in any games this season due to a shoulder injury he suffered in August.

It was not clear what sparked the shooting. The NYPD said there was an altercation outside the restaurant after Boyd and his friends exited the establishment with another group. Two shots were fired and one hit Boyd in the abdomen. The round traveled to his right lung, authorities said.

Robbery did not appear to be a motive, the NYPD said.
