Steven Bodnar, of Holbrook, stabbed to death in upper Manhattan, police say

A 23-year-old Holbrook man was fatally stabbed during what police called a melee early Monday in the Inwood-Fort George section of upper Manhattan.
The NYPD said officers responding to a 12:42 a.m. 911 call of an assault on Nagle Avenue found two 23-year-old men stabbed, one with a stab wound to the torso, the other with a stab wound to the abdomen.
Steven Bodnar, of Holbrook, was stabbed in the torso. He was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The second victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported in stable condition in a police cruiser to NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital in Manhattan. Police said no arrests had been made in the case.
Police said it was not immediately clear if the two victims knew each other or were simply part of a crowd caught up in what police described as "a melee."
The stabbings were part of what the NYPD said was a series of attacks in the area late Sunday into early Monday. A 30-year-old man was shot about an hour earlier near the intersection of Sherman Avenue and Isham Street. Police said four masked suspects fled the scene following the shooting.
About a half hour after that shooting, police said a 19-year-old man was shot near Dyckman Street and Nagle Avenue.
Both shooting victims are expected to survive, police said.
Police said Tuesday it was not clear if any of the attacks were related. Investigations are ongoing.
