The city Department of Transportation has completed a $7 million repaving of First Avenue on the Upper East Side, it said Tuesday.

The 53-block project smoothed out First Avenue from 72nd to 125th streets with an inch of asphalt to cover the uneven concrete road.

“The future has finally caught up with First Avenue to provide better transit, driving, biking and walking through science,” DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan said in a statement.
