DOT continues Queensboro Bridge work
The city Department of Transportation is continuing work on a lane of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge that has been closed since a truck fire snarled traffic on Friday.
The fire was hot enough to damage a floor beam. Repair crews got all but one upper-level lane open Saturday around 8 p.m., the DOT said. An agency spokesman had no word on when repairs to the closed Queens-bound lane would finish.
During the weekend, traffic was open in both directions on the bridge's westbound roadways, with the upper level for Manhattan-bound vehicles while the lower level took drivers to Queens.
