Dylan Lauren talks Dylan's Candy Bar x LeSportsac collaboration

Dylan Lauren is one sweet fashionista.

The owner of Dylan's Candy Bar -- and daughter of designer Ralph Lauren -- is launching on Thursday a collection of 14 bags for luggage and handbag fave LeSportsac.

The Dylan's Candy Bar for LeSportsac bags retail for $18 to $188, and are available at LeSportsac stores and Dylan's in NYC (1011 Third Ave., 646-735-0078).

In an exclusive interview with amNewYork, the candy queen dished about the ABCs: accessories, bags and candy, of course.

How did you decide to venture into handbags with LeSportsac? LeSportsac was very open to collaborating and allowing us to stretch the perception of candy to making it fashionable. They helped to make the bags even more fun with gumball charms.

Picking a favorite bag might be as tough as picking a favorite candy, but what's your favorite of each? Candy-wise, I like the color and taste of gumballs. Bag-wise, I love the style LeSweetTote: an ombre rainbow tote with a pocket graphic filled with Dylan's Candy Bar's best-selling candies.

Are there any candies you dislike? Which would never find their way onto a LeSportsac bag? I am not a fan of caramel or any chocolate-covered fruit. Only colorful and graphic candies made the cut for the ... collection.

What's the best accessory advice you've ever received and who was it from? Wear shoes with a heel or wedge to give you a sleek silhouette with both height and slimness. My dad [gave me that advice].

Speaking of your dad, what's his favorite sweet treat? Buttercrunch and dark- chocolate-covered almond bark.

Running a candy empire and staying in shape must take a lot of willpower. Any advice for others with a sweet tooth? Everything in moderation. Don't deprive. Always work out for the body and spirit. I run, spin, weight train with trainers, hike, play tennis and eat a lot of candy.

What's next for Dylan's Candy Bar? Airport stores and more flagships in America, Europe and Asia. Also, tech accessories like Dylanized iPhone covers, earbuds and laptop sleeves.
