Ed Koch hospitalized with respiratory infection

Former Mayor Ed Koch was hospitalized for the second time this year Tuesday.

Doctors diagnosed Koch, who will turn 88 next week, with a respiratory infection and treated him with antibiotics overnight, his spokesman and friend George Arzt said.

Arzt said Koch looked sick when they had lunch yesterday and that prompted the former mayor to visit his doctor.

In September, Koch had a bout with anemia that required a hospital stay.
