Editor's Picks: Summer shopping list

J. Crew Panama hat, $58 Credit: J. Crew Panama hat, $58
To celebrate the official start of summer, a few of our ultimate seasonal must-haves (and, of course, must-buys).
The accessory
J. Crew Panama hat, $58, J.crew.com (Above)
A classic Hemingway-style white panama is my summer must-have, always. Last year, mine blew away while on vacation, so I'll be replacing it ASAP with J.Crew's handwoven version.

The product
MAC Cosmetics lipstick in Lady Danger, $14.50, MAC stores and counters
I happen to like a bold lip all year round, but I tend to really amp it up come summertime. My all-time favorite shade - MAC's Lady Danger - imparts a perfect orangey-red pop that looks killer with a tan.

The day blouse
Equipment Signature print blouse, $258, equipmentfr.com
I'm battling an addiction to Equipment's silk button-downs but I fell off the wagon for this palm tree print that lets me celebrate summer with a wink, as opposed to going all Jimmy Buffet on the world.

The shorts
Uniqlo Easy color Flare Shorts, $19.90, UNIQLO stores
My search for the perfect pair of shorts has come to an end: Offered in a variety of chic neutral shades, they're silky, slightly flared, loose and versatile - basically a no-brainer.

The bag
3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Messenger Bag, $750, shopbop.com
I never met a white bag I didn't like, and this mini messenger version of Lim's culty Pashli satchel is sleek, chic and summer-ready.

The simple shoe
Matiko Alden shoe, $109, shopwasteland.com
I love Matiko's always-interesting designs, and I'm especially drawn to this minimalist leather slip-in and its cool stacked flatform.
