At least eight people, including two cops, were injured during a police chase early Thursday morning on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx, officials said.

The officers were following a car after checking the plates and finding out it had been stolen, a police spokesman said.

Witnesses told 1010 Wins that the driver made a U-turn on the southbound lane before crashing into several cars at about 10:30 a.m. A police spokesman would not confirm the report, and said the accident was still under investigation. An FDNY spokesman said six civilians and two police officers were taken to Lincoln hospital. A hospital spokesman was unsure whether they were released on Thursday night.
