Elton John says he’s lucky to be alive after a crippling bout of appendicitis that forced the pop icon to cancel the rest of his European tour.
Stomach pains caused the 66-year-old to walk offstage halfway through his performance in Halle, Germany, on Friday.
“I’m lucky to be alive,” the singer told The Sun. “I was a ticking time bomb. I guess I could have died at any time.”
John originally thought the pains were from food poisoning, but he later found out he had an appendix abscess, according to the British tabloid.
