Emergency repairs take out A train to Rockaways
Beachgoers who want respite from the heat wave in the Rockaways must find another route Wednesday because of emergency track repairs to the A train, the MTA said.
Crews will make the repairs to the A line from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. between the Euclid Avenue and Howard Beach stations. Workers are fixing a rail at a switch point south of the 80th Street station in Queens, according to the MTA.
For customers heading to Rockaway Beach, the MTA suggested taking the Q53 bus from the No. 7 Woodside or E, F, M, R line station at Roosevelt Avenue; the Q52 from the M and R train Woodhaven station; and the Q35 from the No. 2 and 5 train Flatbush Avenue station in Brooklyn.
Regular A-train riders can take a free express shuttle buses in both directions between the affected stations, as well as a local shuttle to stop at all A stations between Euclid Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard. The local express shuttle will also stop at the Aqueduct casino and racetrack, Aqueduct-North conduit Avenue and Howard Beach stations.
