A green peahen is back in the fold at the Bronx Zoo.
Zoo director Jim Breheny said she was found yesterdaymorning in the garage of a local business and safely corralled.
The peahen made a break for it on Monday and was spotted roaming the streets of the Bronx.
Breheny said the bird has been examined by veterinarians and seems to be fine.
The critter already has its own Twitter account with more than 4,000 followers. It asserted yesterdayafternoon on its account that it allowed zookeepers to catch it because it didn't want to walk all the way back to the zoo.
"Remember that freedom at times can be short-lived, so make the best of it right now! Beaky smoochies!" the bird tweeted.
Zoo officials said the zoo's peacocks and peahens wander freely, but usually stay inside the zoo.
The escape comes after a highly venomous Egyptian cobra slithered off from its enclosure at the zoo March 27. It was found in the reptile house a week later. She was named Mia, for Missing in Action, and also developed her own Twitter following.
The peahen's Twitter take: "Dear other animals at other zoos; Move to the Bronx Zoo. Love, BX Peahen."
