Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn is expected to plead not guilty Monday in Manhattan to charges that he sexually attacked a midtown hotel maid last month, his attorney said.
Strauss-Kahn faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of attempted rape and sex abuse, among other charges.
The 62-year-old politician, who was a 2012 presidential frontrunner, is married to French television journalist Anne Sinclair and has four children. He quit as managing director of the International Monetary Fund a few days after his May 14 arrest.
Strauss-Kahn is accused of forcing a 32-year-old African immigrant at the Sofitel Hotel to perform oral sex twice and trying to rape her after she came to clean his $3,000-a- night suite. He currently is staying at a $14 million Tribeca townhouse, where he is ponying up about $50,000 per month to rent.
