Ex-International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has gotten an upgrade in digs, reportedly moving on Wednesday from an apartment in the Financial District to a luxury townhouse in TriBeCa, a more permanent residence to serve out his house arrest.

Strauss-Kahn, 62, who is accused of trying to rape a maid in a midtown hotel, is renting a $50,000-a-month townhouse at 153 Franklin St. for him and his millionaire wife, according to published reports. The posh, three-story townhouse has four bedrooms and five bathrooms and comes with a home theater, bars, a gym and a spa, the New York Post reported.

A court spokesman confirmed the move but did not provide more information. Strauss-Kahn’s lawyer, did not immediately return a call for comment.

Strauss-Kahn is out on a $6 million bail. He is paying for around-the-clock armed guards and is required to wear an electronic monitoring device.

Before his May 14 arrest, Strauss-Kahn was the top candidate to replace French president Nicolas Sarkozy in the 2012 election.
