Facebook finally launches its official iPad app

After delays, rumors and even a little drama, the Facebook iPad has finally launched, the company announced Monday on its official blog.
The free app, which has reportedly been close to completion since May, has been one of the most-requested apps for Apple's wonder-device, and its iPhone iteration is the most-downloaded app in the App Store's history.
"Use your fingertips to scroll through your News Feed. Give the screen a swipe to page through albums. Pinch a picture to zoom in. Whatever you're up to, using Facebook on your iPad just feels fun," Facebook's Leon Dubinsky wrote in the blog post announcing the app.
While details were immediately scarce, on Facebook's iPad app page the social network touted its "simplified navigation to send a message," a less cluttered interface and easier navigation given the iPad's 9.7-inch screen. The iPad is the highest-selling tablet on the market, and has about 97% of overall tablet Internet traffic.
Earlier this month there was speculation the app would launch at last week's introduction of the iPhone 4S, but it was nowhere to be found.
The app is available for free in Apple's App Store.
