Derek Lam’s collection embodied the California-girl spirit, but not in a typical fashion.
There weren’t any beach waves or cut-offs at Saturday’s show — Lam’s looks were inspired by the desert landscape and the minimalist mid-century homes he’s visited on the West Coast.
Models sporting slicked-back ponytails presented a parade of bold prints, clean neutrals, corals and yellows on sophisticated sheaths, skirts and jumpsuits. Two sequin frocks added a little glitz to the collection.
