amNewYork caught up with womenswear designer Rachel Roy, who is showing her fall 2013 collection through a digital presentation on Feb. 14.
What is your Fashion Week motto?
Take a deep breath and dive in.
What's most notably new this season?
I think the level of embellishment is new for me this season. We do it in a number of ways, whether it's beading on a strong shoulder or beautiful lace embellishment on a trouser, it feels quite strong to me.
What's in your Fashion Week "survival kit"?
I use a lot of Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener to compensate for the lack of sleep, Estée Lauder TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara to make me look awake and sushi from Nobu for energy.
Heels or flats during Fashion Week?
Depends on the day but always heels for my show day because it makes me feel put-together.
Which models do you have your eye on?
I love girls that look a bit different and always bring positive energy.
