Fashion Week: Pamella Roland fall 2011 show report

fghfgh
One point of confusion at Monday’s Pamela Roland fall 2011 show – the music. Overplayed pop (Black Eyed Peas' “The Time of my Life" and Coldplay’s “Clocks”) were odd choices to accompany the super-mature garments, most of which seem to have been suited to a breed of women who probably don’t know who will.i.am is. A small detail of course, but it added to the sense that the collection was a bit non-cohesive.
The line apparently was inspired by the “Far East,” but that wasn’t 100 percent clear, as we saw fur-trimmed coats and capes and stretch-wool tux jackets for day. The evening wear — a parade of muted dresses and gowns, many embroidered, fit the inspiration a bit more, especially the finale ensemble — a slightly '80s maroon getup with a floor-length cinched-waist coat that ballooned out dramatically to reveal an underlay of flower print.
