Runway shows aren’t always known for their realistic portrayal of fashion, but Richard Chai’s Fall 2011 Love collection was nothing if not wholly wearable.
Chai — the king of layering — took his penchant further than ever, stacking louche balmacaans, sweaters and oversized utility vests over floor-grazing skirts and relaxed trousers. The colors — mostly muted shades of gray, tan, black, green and rose — added a chic, autumnal vibe, and each model strutted in uniform ankle booties with a low wooden heel, furthering the reality factor and giving the collection an urban edge.
