Fashion Week: Yigal Azrouel fall 2011 show report

Yigal Azrouel’s collection chicly showed the masculine-meets-feminine aesthetic that has emerged as one of the top trends for fall 2011.
Most looks were not exclusively mannish — a la Tommy Hilfiger’s double-breasted pantsuits earlier in the week. Instead, Azrouel punctuated otherwise feminine ensembles with masculine elements, and the other way around.
One standout look consisted of a hot-pink button-down shirt, gray cropped trousers, loafers, a ladylike fur coat and an oversized black bowtie; another, a body-hugging salmon dress over a crisp white shirt and metallic tie.
A handful of looks, namely the succession of gowns that closed the show, maintained a strictly feminine aesthetic. Because, after all, this is women’s wear.
