Police are probing the cause of a Kip's Bay car accident early Sunday morning that killed a Queens taxi driver.
Traffic accident investigators were compiling and assessing evidence Sunday to see if speed was a factor in the crash that killed Mir Hoosain, 35, of Elmhurst, and sent another 43-year-old man to the hospital.
About 2 a.m. Sunday morning, a 42-year-old man driving a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder east on East 26th Street struck a double-parked yellow 2010 Ford Crown Victoria cab parked between Third and Lexington avenues. The cab lurched forward and struck its operator, Hoosain, who was standing in front of his vehicle.
Three other vehicles were damaged, including a 2008 Honda Accord whose driver was behind the wheel. He was taken to Cornell Hospital and listed in stable condition.
The 42-year-old driver of the Pathfinder, who was driving alone, was not arrested because he had not been driving while intoxicated, police said.
