Spectators from all over the city had a ball Sunday watching one of the oldest buildings on Governors Island go up in smoke.

The Trust for Governors Island and FDNY imploded the former Coast Guard building to make way for a new park on the island.

Dozens of interested spectators attended the live event at 7:30 a.m. and cheered as Building 877, the tallest non-historic building on the island, turned into smoke. They weren't the only ones who got to hear the destruction of the 45-year-old building.

The sounds of the 200 pounds of dynamite could be heard as far away as Park Slope and eastern New Jersey.
