Few clues in New Jersey plane crash

Salvage crews were clearing debris from near a busy New Jersey highway where an Upper East Side investment banker, his family and a colleague died in a single-engine plane crash Tuesday.

The National Transportation Safety Board will examine the wreckage to determine the cause of the accident. Pilot Jeffrey Buckalew reported icing to air-traffic control just before the crash, but NTSB investigators said Wednesday they did not know if the weather was to blame.

Buckalew's plane burst into flames after crashing on Route 287 in Morris County. Killed in the accident were Buckalew, 45, a managing director at Greenhill & Co.; his wife, Corrine, 45; his children - Jackson, 11, and Meriwether, 9; and Rakesh Chawla, 36, also a managing director at the banking firm.
