Fight on Facebook over B'klyn man who allegedly killed four

A Facebook page in support of an alleged knife-wielding killer who went on a bloody 28-hour rampage that killed four people and horrified the city yesterday drew cries of expletive-filled outrage.

Comments on a “Free Maksim Gelman Now” page making claims that the 23-year-old Brooklyn man was set up or that he is a hero drew dozens of vitriolic responses.

“This is outrageous,” one woman wrote. “Innocent people were murdered by a drug crazed mad man, families were torn apart and friends are grieving the loss of their loved ones.”

The fight also boiled over to a page called “Maksim Gelman Deserves the Death Penalty.”

It was unclear who set up the Facebook pages for and against Gelman, who is being held without bail, accused of brutally killing his stepfather; a woman who he was obsessed with, Yelena Bulchenko, 20; and her mother, and of mowing down a pedestrian. He also is accused of injuring four others during a crazed terror spree over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Gelman yesterday was assigned a new lawyer, Edward Friedman. A woman who answered the phone at Friedman’s office said there would not be any comment.

The New York Post also reported yesterday that while Gelman was on the run, he briefly fled to a sick shrine he set up for Bulchenko under the LIRR freight-train overpass along Ocean Avenue. There, he spray-painted red hearts with her name, the paper reported, citing sources.

A wake for Bulchenko and her mother will be held today at Parkside Memorial Home in Brooklyn.
