17 dead, including 8 children, in NYC apartment fire, officials say
Seventeen people, including eight children, were killed in a fire Sunday at a Bronx apartment building, officials said — New York City's deadliest in nearly 32 years. Mayor Eric Adams said Monday afternoon that the city medical examiner has revised the fire's death toll — to a total of 17, nine adults and eight children — instead of 19, as city leaders had reported earlier.
