First 5000 Citi Bike memberships sold out
The first 5,000 annual memberships to the Citi Bike share program were sold by Tuesday afternoon. They became available on Monday morning.
“New Yorkers are clearly ready to take advantage of the quick, convenient travel our bike share program will provide. It’s a strong early sign of success,” said New York City Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan in a statement.
Annual memberships are still available online and cost $95, plus tax. Riders can also purchase daily or weekly passes.
The program is scheduled to begin in May. There will be 6,000 bikes in 300 stations across Brooklyn and in Manhattan, south of 59th Street.
