Fox News host: Sorry for saying Obama would fund a Muslim culture museuem
"Sorry" seems to be the hardest word - and it's getting more and more absurd.
Fox News Channel Anchor Anna Kooiman apologized via Twitter for saying on air Saturday that President Barack Obama had offered to pay the operating expenses for a museum of Muslim culture "out of his own pocket" during the partial government shut down.
"Just met w producers- I made a mistake yday after receiving flawed research abt a museum possibly closing. My apologies. Won't happen again." Kooiman tweeted Sunday.
Kooiman's mea culpa prompted a flurry of on-line guffawing and japes from Fox critics and "mistakes can happen" defenses from the network's fans.
Kooiman's flub came after a satirical website, the National Report, published a spoof quoting Obama saying he planned to fund the "sacred" Jackson, Miss., International Museum of Muslim Cultures - which does not operate with federal money - so "it can stay open during this horrible time in our nation's history."
Fox will correct the mistake on "Fox & Friends" this Saturday, Fox spokeswoman Dana Klinghoffer told the Associated Press.
