Frozen chicken product made in Queens recalled

A food manufacturer in Astoria, Queens, has recalled 4,335 pounds of a frozen chicken product sold in New York and other northeastern states because of “misbranding and undeclared allergens,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The company, Water Lilies Food, recalled 10-ounce boxes of breaded Ahold Wedge spicy chicken tenders, the department said in a release.

The products in question were produced in late March. The company learned on Tuesday that the bread crumbs coating the meat may have contained milk, which had not been declared, according to the release.

The USDA classified the recall as a “health hazard situation” and said consuming the product could cause “serious, adverse health consequences.”

No illnesses have been reported and confirmed as a result of the recalled product so far, according to the agency, which recommended discarding it or returning it to the place of purchase.
