Gavin DeGraw released from hospital after East Village assault

Singer Gavin DeGraw was discharged from Bellevue Hospital Tuesday night after spending two days recovering from an apparent assault by three men outside an East Village bar early Monday and being hit by a taxi, his rep said.
Police said they didn't have clear descriptions of the men and that it was unclear what led to the beating.
"Gavin and his family appreciate everyone's concern at this time," DeGraw's rep said in a statement.
DeGraw, 34, reportedly was leaving the National Underground at Houston and Allen streets, a bar he owns with his brother, when he was assaulted by the men then hit by a passing taxi. An ambulance took him to Bellevue Hospital where he was treated for “a concussion, broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises," the rep said.
DeGraw cancelled his appearances to open for Maroon 5 and Train through Saturday.
The New York singer, whose hits include “I Don't Want to Be" and "Chariot," got his start playing in nightclubs in and around Manhattan. He hit it big when "I Don't Want to Be" was chosen as the theme song for the TV show “One Tree Hill."
