George Lucas hints at original trilogy cast's return in Episode VII
Maybe Episode VII will be called Return of the Retro Stars?
George Lucas may have indicated that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford have signed on for the new Star Wars trilogy.
Lucas, who's handing the director's chair to J.J. Abrams, told Bloomberg Businessweek that he talked with the actors to come back as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo long before he sold his company to Disney in October.
"We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison-or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, 'Look, this is what's going on,'" he said.
Lucas however wouldn't confirm or deny if the negotiations were successful.
Fisher, 56, told Palm Beach Illustrated this week that she would return for the movie, which is slated for 2015, but her representative later said she was joking and nothing was final.
Hamill, 61, said he has spoken to Lucas about the story for the new movies, while Ford, 70, has reportedly been interested in playing the space smuggler with a heart.
