Get ready to "dancey dance," because the stars of the children's television show "Yo Gabba Gabba!" are performing at Madison Square Garden this weekend.
Scott Schultz, one of the creators of the award-winning program, said to expect a true spectacle from the "Get the Sillies Out" concert.
"We wanted a big, extravagant event, with LED screens, confetti, live music, everyone's favorite friends," said Schultz.
The concert will feature all of the main stars and include participation songs lead by DJ Lance Rock, Super Music Friends, Biz and more. Schultz hints, "You never know who will show up to lead dance time."
He continued: "There's fun in watching the television show of course, but in a live venue, we have thousands of kids and adults alike interacting together, so it's a totally different experience."
The television show, which airs on Nick Jr., was co-created by Schultz and Christian Jacobs, his longtime friend and the lead singer of The Aquabats. After having kids, the dynamic duo thought there was not enough variety in children's programming.
"We wanted a music show with get-up-and-dance music, sort of like The Wiggles but with 80s hip-hop," said Schultz.
Part of the popularity of the show is attributed to its widespread appeal. Indie music-loving adults are sure to enjoy bands like The Shins and the Hot Hot Heat, who often collaborate.
"Our goal is to have a big variety to expose kids to a bunch of different styles," said Schultz. "It's a dream job."
If you go: 'Yo Gabba Gabba! Live: Get the Sillies Out' is at the Theater at Madison Square Garden Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Times vary. $45-$95, 4 Penn Plaza at W. 32nd St., 212-465-6073
