A name from America's retail past was uncovered at a recently closed Rite Aid store in Astoria at Ditmars and 31 Street.. When the Rite Aid sign was removed, the traces of an old Woolworth sign that had been covered up for years was revealed. The last of the Woolworth retail stores closed in the mid-1990s.
