A name from America's retail past was uncovered at a recently closed Rite Aid store in Astoria at Ditmars and 31 Street.. When the Rite Aid sign was removed, the traces of an old Woolworth sign that had been covered up for years was revealed. The last of the Woolworth retail stores closed in the mid-1990s.

Thanks to Andrew Lisa and the photographer, Robin Bell Albury, for the tip

UPDATE: Good discussion going at Queens Crap blog about this building. Click here.
