The Giants have agreed to bring back David Carr to serve as Eli Manning's backup for another season, according to multiple reports Tuesday.

Carr reportedly will receive a one-year deal for what is likely the veteran minimum salary.

The former 2002 first-overall pick, the first draft selection in Houston Texans history, has been Manning's understudy in four of the previous five seasons.

He spent the 2010 season with the 49ers.

According to the Daily News, the Giants did not expect to have Carr back with the team this season and were looking into potential replacements.

Carr's last gig as a starting quarterback came with the Carolina Panthers in 2007, when he started four games.

The backup completed two of his three pass attempts in 2012.
