'Girls' star Lena Dunham surprised at show's success

Lena Dunham, creator and star of HBO’s “Girls,” is shocked that her raunchy comedy is still on the air.

“I kept thinking, after the pilot, ‘OK, we’ll make a pilot and then that’ll be a great story in my life when I’m a mail woman,’ ” the Emmy Award winner told David Letterman on CBS’ “Late Show” on Monday night.

Despite 27-year-old Dunham’s doubts, “Girls” returns for a third season with back-to-back episodes on Sunday at 10 p.m.
