Giuliana and Bill Ranic expecting a baby

After some pretty mitigating bumps in the road, it looks like Giuliana and Bill Rancic are finally getting the baby they've been so vocal about wanting.

The "E! News" host and "Fashion Police" commentator - whose road to motherhood has been less than a walk in the park by well-documented infertility struggles, a 2010 miscarriage and a diagnosis of breast cancer - announced Monday on NBC's "Today" show that she and Bill are expecting a child via a gestational surrogate, which means the pair will be the genetic parents.

The child is due in late summer and the couple already knows the sex "but we're seeing how long we can keep it secret," Giuliana, 37, said on "Today." She added that the surrogate mother lives out of state, but that they accompany her on all the visits to the doctor.

"We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered," Giuliana told E! News Monday, with Bill, 40, adding: "We're absolutely ecstatic to be sharing this with everyone who has been following our journey."

Apart from making various media appearances to discuss their struggles, the couple also has a show-all reality show on the Style Network.
