The downtown skyline is glowing red this week in honor of newly minted Cardinal Timothy Dolan.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo designated this week "Timothy Cardinal Dolan Week," less than a month after Dolan was elevated from Archbishop by Pope Benedict XVI.
"Cardinal Dolan has quickly become a beloved leader in our state," Cuomo said in a statement Monday. "It is clear that he will continue to have a tremendous impact on the next generation of Catholicism in New York and throughout the United States."
A spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of New York said Dolan, who was visiting politicians in Albany, did not have a comment on the proclamation Monday.
One World Trade Center will be lit red through Sunday night.
