A national group of gay conservatives yesterday launched an ad campaign against several Democratic nominees, including openly gay Massachusetts U.S. Rep. Barney Frank.

“For the first time ever a national gay organization is airing a television advertising campaign going after Democrats,” said Jimmy LaSalvia, executive director of GOProud.

The ads also targets Sen. Barbara Boxer and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, both of California.

LaSalvia said the ad “highlights the embarrassing and arrogant approach of Democratic leaders in Washington,” adding that a “Democratic Congress is a dismal one.”

A spokesman for Frank told amNewYork that the ad is “in bad taste.”
