If you're a culinary adventurer, this event is for you. To celebrate the birthday of Scotland's national poet Robert Burns (best known for his poem "Auld Lang Syne"), Highlands is hosting Burns Night. There will be poetry and bagpipes, but the main attraction is haggis, a pudding that traditionally contains sheep's pluck (heart, liver and lungs) mixed with spices and marinated in an animal's stomach casing. Due to FDA regs, this haggis will not include pluck, but rather lamb breast and beef liver.
If you go: Highlands NYC is at 150 W. 10th St., 212-229-2670. Seating at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 24. Reservations required.
