Apple today is set to shake up the mobile phone industry yet again, as the company is widely expected to introduce two new versions of the iPhone and show off the final version of iOS 7, the latest iteration of the company's mobile operating system.

Here's what to expect from the event, which kicks off at 1 p.m. EST:

- Apple is likely to unveil the iPhone 5S, or whatever it will call the successor to the iPhone 5. This will be the flagship phone, and it is expected to look practically identical to the iPhone 5 but have faster insides and a better camera. It possibly may be released in three colors: The black and white colors it's currently available in, along with a brand new gold-colored edition.

- To set apart the new iPhone 5S, Apple may include in it a fingerprint reader for security and identification. The reader has been rumored to sit where the current home button is at the bottom of the phone, and could possibly allow for password-free access to the phone.

- Also introduced could be a cheaper version of the iPhone with a plastic casing that comes in multiple colors, possibly called the iPhone 5C, about which rumors have swirled for months. The phone would be a grab for the low-end smartphone market, which Google's Android operating system dominates.

- The final version of iOS 7 will also likely be shown, along with a release date for when users can download it to their phones. Apple previewed the update back in June and has spent the last few month refining it.

- Always known for its surprises, Apple may pull out a shocker and unveil an update to Apple TV, the iPad Mini, its iPod line or something else entirely, all of which have been hinted at in rumors ranging from sketchy to almost certainly false.
