Residential sales in New York City are off to a strong start this year, with closings and prices outpacing the final quarter of 2012, according to a report released Tuesday.

The report by the Real Estate Board of New York said there were 10,012 home sales around the city in 2013, which is a 4% increase from the end of last year and up 11% from a year ago. All together, home sales for 2013 total $8.1 billion citywide.
