Hospitalized Staten Island man facing charges in double car crash

A Staten Island man was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, drunk driving and a variety of other offenses for allegedly leaving the scene of an early morning Queens fender bender Wednesday, taking cops on a high-speed chase, and then crashing into a BMW at Atlantic and Van Siclen Avenues in Brooklyn, injuring its five occupants and two police officers.
If convicted, Chance Deespina, 31, who lives in Grymes Hill, faces up to seven years in prison. Deespina, who suffered a broken hip in the accident and remains hospitalized, is awaiting arraignment, according to the Queens District Attorney.
