We've got a crush on orange this summer.

That said, the hue can be intimidating for ladies whose beauty routines consist mostly of pinks and browns -- and who don't want to veer into over-the-top '80s territory.

With the release of cosmetics giant MAC's All About Orange collection this week, MAC Senior Artist Keri Blair gave us the scoop on wearing orange this season.

Where's a good place to start when it comes to orange? To find your orange soulmate, start out soft and sheer.

What's your advice for orange newbies? Go straight for the fingertips. Nails are great way to integrate color into your beauty routine. From the softest hint of coral to the boldest pop of tangerine, there is a perfect orange polish for everyone.

Which shades look good on various skin tones? Orange's best attribute is that it looks good on everyone. It truly is the great equalizer of makeup. Just remember that the deeper the skin tones, the more intensity and warmth you need in the color. For lighter skin tones, corals and peaches create a fresh glow. Nothing sets off a golden sun-kissed look like a peach-toned lip or cheek.

Is it best to stick with one orange feature or to use orange all over? Perhaps it's my love of color that pushes me to play with more hues on the face. For those of us with blue eyes, try an orange cheek and lips. It creates lots of intensity with little effort. However, if you are newer to this color game, focusing on one color feature while keeping the rest of your canvas more neutral creates a different kind of impact. Try pairing gray-toned eyeshadows with a bright peachy pucker for a gorgeous result that will keep you looking fresh all summer long.
