Cops are hunting for a 23-year-old man wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Brooklyn and then shooting at police officers trying to question him late Sunday night.
Police were canvassing an area of Brighton Beach at around 11 p.m. Sunday looking for a man who had allegedly attacked the unidentified 21-year-old woman when they came across a man who fit a description she had given them, police said Monday.
When they pulled their car in front of him to stop him, he bolted, squeezing off a round from a gun at cops. The officers took cover and did not return fire, while the suspect, identified as Norman Vanigas of Brooklyn, got away. There were no injuries reported.
There is a $12,000 reward for anyone who helps cops find Vanigas.
