It's definitely summer in NYC: Our high temps are here to stay

If you thought Tuesday was a scorcher, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
The National Weather Service has placed the city under an Excessive Heat Watch from Thursday afternoon through Friday, when the mercury could reach 98 in Central Park. That still would be three degrees shy of the record for the day, a steamy 101 set in 1957.
The city is helping by opening cooling centers around town.
The weather will cool off a bit on Sunday, and highs should settle into the low 80s on Tuesday, which is slightly below normal for this time of year.
