It's official! Dakota Fanning attending NYU

Dakota Fanning is about to go from hitting up Hollywood’s red-carpet premieres to hitting the books.

The actress will be a freshman at New York University this fall, a spokesman for NYU confirmed to amNewYork on Thursday, adding that she is enrolled in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study — the same school Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen attended.

A rep for Fanning also confirmed that the actress is attending NYU, but declined to provide further details.

The news was first reported by the blog NYU Local — which stealthily figured out the 17-year-old’s soon-to-be-student status through the university’s online directory, which makes student e-mail addresses accessible to anyone in the NYU community (It’s possible to opt out of the directory — which we’re sure Fanning will do now).

Fanning was spotted taking a tour of the school last spring.
